About

I came into security sideways. I studied Data Science at the National College of Ireland, graduating in 2023, and spent most of the degree on statistics, analysis and the unglamorous work of getting data into a state where it can answer a question. A cybersecurity internship at Dell in 2022 is where the two interests met, and I have been on that side ever since.

What I actually enjoy is the tooling. At IBM I could do the detection work by hand, and at the start I did. The more useful contribution turned out to be the layer underneath: the CLI utilities, the MCP servers, the agent workflows that mean nobody has to do the manual version again. That instinct, automation over repetition, systems before scale, is the same one behind VNTA Group. Each venture there sits on shared infrastructure so it can grow without rebuilding the foundations every time.

I care about work that holds up. Detection rules that stay accurate as the internet changes underneath them, brands that still make sense in five years, tools that other people can pick up without a handover call. Restraint is usually the harder choice and usually the right one.
